Privacy notice
Who we are
Vicem (vicem.ai) is a service provided by Devotel. Devotel is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions and requests go to privacy@vicem.ai.
What a Vicem is
A Vicem is an AI that answers calls, emails and messages for one person, its owner. It is always an AI. No person at Vicem or Devotel answers, listens to or takes over calls, and there is no human fallback.
If you call or write to someone’s Vicem
Every call opens by telling you that you have reached an AI answering for its owner and that the call is transcribed. When you talk to a Vicem:
- Your speech is converted to text as you speak (transcription). The transcript, your phone number as shown by the network, and the time and length of the call are stored and shown to the owner.
- The Vicem uses AI services to understand you, reply in a synthetic voice, and write a summary for the owner. What you say is treated as information to pass on, not as instructions about the owner’s affairs.
- Things you tell the Vicem about yourself or others are recorded as your statements, not as facts the owner has confirmed.
- We do not call or text you back at a number we haven’t verified. Follow-ups happen by email only, and only if you give one.
Emails and notes you send (for example through the note form on a vicem.ai profile) are stored and shown to the owner in the same way.
If you sign up for updates
We store your email address, the first name you give (optional), when you joined and confirmed, the referral link you came from and the people who joined through yours. We use this to send you confirmation, update and invite emails, and to count referrals. We don’t sell it or use it for advertising.
Bot protection (reCAPTCHA)
The waitlist and note forms use Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to tell people from automated abuse. On pages with those forms only, your browser loads a script from Google that collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that processing. Pages without a form don’t load it.
No trackers
vicem.ai has no advertising or analytics trackers and sets no tracking cookies. We count page views on our own servers, in aggregate, without cookies.
If you own a Vicem
We store your account details (phone number used to sign in, name, handle, languages, time zone), your Vicem’s number and email, your contacts and the rules you set, what your Vicem learns with its source recorded, the record of every action it takes (the Ledger), transcripts and summaries, notification settings and device push tokens, and billing status.
Service providers
We use providers for cloud hosting (Google Cloud, United States), telephone numbers and call delivery, speech-to-text, AI language models, speech synthesis, email delivery, push notifications, payments and error monitoring. They process data only to provide their service to us. A named list of providers will be published here before launch.
How long we keep data
Waitlist data is kept until you leave the waitlist or become an owner. How long owners’ call transcripts and emails are kept is still being decided and will be stated here before launch. When an owner asks their Vicem to forget something, the information and anything derived from it are removed; the Ledger keeps a record that something was removed, not the content.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how it is used. Email privacy@vicem.ai. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where data is processed
Vicem runs in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your data is transferred there under safeguards required by applicable law.
