Vicem facts

Your phone, answered when you can’t.

What Vicem is

An AI that answers your phone when you can’t: for you, not a company switchboard.

Vicem answers your phone when you can’t: it takes messages, turns away scam calls, and asks you before anything important.

It has its own number, email and page. It speaks the caller’s language (16 languages), emails the caller back, works when your phone is off and works on any phone.

Who it’s for

One person and their own phone: people who miss calls because they are working, driving, traveling, asleep or simply busy, and want those calls handled instead of sent to voicemail. Each Vicem works for one person. It is not a switchboard for a company.

How it works

Two ways to start. Keep your number and turn on forwarding, so the calls you miss, decline or can’t take go to your Vicem, even when your phone is off. Or get a new US number for Vicem and give that out instead.

Vicem shows the forwarding code for your carrier. Code tables exist for 12 countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Türkiye, Australia, India.

After each call you get a short summary on your phone. Anything important waits for your OK first.

What callers hear

Callers are always told they are talking to an AI.

  • Every call starts with the owner’s name and “AI”, for example: “Hi, this is Sam’s AI. This call is transcribed. How can I help?”
  • Asked “Are you a real person?”, it says: “I’m Sam’s AI, not a person, and this call is transcribed.” Questions like “Is this a scam?” get fixed, honest answers written in code, never improvised ones.
  • A caller who wants a person or a voicemail gets a clear answer at once, and can always leave a message.

What it never does

  • Pretend to be a person. It says it’s an AI on every call, in every language it speaks.
  • Do anything important without the owner. Those things wait for the owner’s OK, and that rule lives in Vicem’s code, not in the AI. If what was asked changes, it asks again.
  • Have a hidden human listening. There is no call center behind it; when it needs someone, it asks the owner.

Languages

It answers callers in their own language: 16 languages today. The owner app and this site are in English.

English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese.
