Why aren’t my missed calls going to Vicem?
Usually something answers before Vicem can: Live Voicemail on an iPhone, or your phone company’s voicemail. Turn off Live Voicemail, dial the “don’t answer” code from the app, use *71 on Verizon, then test again.

Fix it in four steps
Turn off Live Voicemail on an iPhone: Settings › Apps › Phone, then switch off Live Voicemail. It answers calls on the phone itself, so they never forward. How to turn off Live Voicemail.
Stop your phone company’s voicemail from answering first. In the app, also dial the “don’t answer” code. It ends in **20, which lets your phone ring for 20 seconds before the call goes to Vicem, so voicemail never gets there first.
Tip: Some phone companies reject the code while voicemail forwarding is on. Turn voicemail forwarding off, then dial it again.
On Verizon, Visible, Xfinity Mobile or Spectrum Mobile, use *71 followed by your Vicem number, not the codes that start with **. Verizon codes.
Tip: Verizon forwards after about 3 or 4 rings, and when you decline.
Test again. Call your own number from another phone and don’t answer, or tap Call me to test in Settings › Call forwarding and Vicem checks it for you.
Still not working?
Make sure the code went through: your phone shows a confirmation after you dial it. On Android, the phone may ask you to confirm the change. Tap OK.
If you changed your plan or SIM recently, your phone company may have turned forwarding off. Dial the code again and test.

Why does my voicemail still answer instead of Vicem?
Your phone company’s voicemail is itself a forward on “don’t answer”, often after 10 to 15 seconds. Dial the “don’t answer” code from the app: it ends in **20, so your phone rings for 20 seconds and then the call goes to Vicem.
Does Verizon use the same forwarding code?
No. Verizon and the brands on its network (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile) use *71 followed by your Vicem number. *73 turns it off.
