Use your phone company’s code, not the Call Forwarding switch in Settings. The switch sends every call away, so your iPhone never rings; the code sends only the calls you decline, miss or can’t take.

Why not the Call Forwarding switch?

On an iPhone, Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Forwarding turns on forwarding for every call. Apple’s guide says it works on GSM networks, and that forwarding when the line is busy or not in service is set up with your phone company. That is what the codes do: your iPhone still rings first, and only the calls you miss go to Vicem.

How do I forward missed calls on iPhone?

Find your code. Pick your phone company on vicem.ai/forward and type your Vicem number. Copy the code.
Paste it on the keypad. Open the Phone app, tap Keypad, paste the code and press call.
Wait for the confirmation. Your phone company confirms with a message or a tone. Then end the call.
Turn off Live Voicemail. Go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Live Voicemail and turn it off, so your phone company can forward the calls you miss.
Test it. Call your iPhone from another phone and let it ring. Vicem should answer.

Why does Live Voicemail answer before Vicem?

Live Voicemail answers a call you don’t pick up on the iPhone itself, so the call never reaches your phone company to be forwarded. Verizon says it has to be off for its *71 forwarding to work. To turn it off, go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Live Voicemail.
